Tactile Technologies’ miniaturized disposable Implant Location System (ILS) offers a new solution that is accurate, simple to use and flexible. The ILS provides a safe and simple tool for planning and carrying out dental implant placement procedures. The practitioner can carry out the procedure with the normal implantation equipment of his or her choice without involving any special sophisticated or expensive equipment.
The ILS is constructed as a combination of the following tools:
- An intuitive and simple planning software,
- A custom Template used as a surgical stent as well as a radiographic registration element, and
- Guiding sheaths that can be adjusted before or during the surgery to carry out the plan.
ILS is designed to provide safe and accurate computer-aided dental implant placement, based on radiographic image registration, a bench-top electro-mechanical robot, and a composite material Sheath for restraining the physio-dispenser.
ILS is intuitively simple to operate, precise, and affordable. In many cases, the implantation procedure can be carried out without the need for traumatic gum removal. The guiding sheaths offer a high degree of safety by constraining drill movement.
Most importantly, the ILS system offers an open architecture solution to dental practitioners. The system generically interfaces with many CT image formats and resolutions, and enables the dentist to select the implant system and tools to maximize the integrity of each procedure.
ILS keeps the dentist’s freedom to change pre-operative plans on-line, during the procedure. The system further offers a tool for electronic communication between the periodontist and the referring dentist.
