The basis for the ILS guidance is the ILS Template. It is a custom-fabricated surgical stent produced using novel rapid-prototyping technology.
This highly accurate device is produced in just one interaction with Tactile facilities, where the doctor sends a standard dental impression and within a few days receives the resultant Template.
It has a threefold function:
- The patient is scanned with the Template mounted on jaw.
- This same Template is used as a reference during planning.
- During surgery, the Template holds the Guiding Sheaths in their exact location, guiding the dentist while drilling.
